  • What is included?

    Your furnished room, WiFi, Netflix, shared kitchen and laundry, twice-weekly common-area cleaning, two-week linen swaps, security systems, backup power, support and guidebook.

  • How is rent charged and paid?

    Stays of less than 4 months are billed at a monthly USD rate and paid in advance: from $713 per month at properties with Category B rooms, from $806 per month at properties with only Category A rooms, and from $868 per month for Category A+ ensuite rooms. Stays of 4 months or more are billed monthly at a discounted, category-specific Rand rate.

  • What deposits and fees apply?

    Stays of less than 4 months: refundable $250 room deposit and $100 once-off lease/cleaning fee. Stays of 4 months or more: refundable R5,000 deposit and R1,500 once-off lease/cleaning fee.

  • Can couples share?

    Category B is single occupancy only. Category A and A+ may be shared at +25% of the monthly base rate.

  • How does electricity work?

    Electricity is billed with your rent: $30 per month for stays of less than 4 months, and R540 per month for stays of 4 months or more. 317 Lower Main Rd uses tenant-managed prepaid electricity.

  • What happens during load-shedding?

    Every house has backup power, so ceiling lights, kitchen plugs, the kettle, toaster and microwave keep running if load-shedding returns.

  • Can I choose a property?

    Placement is based on availability. We do our best with preferences, but a specific property, room or housemate can't be guaranteed.

  • Do you house programme groups?

    Yes. VACorps interns and other programme groups can live together in the same house, at our standard monthly rates. Email info@rentaroom.co.za to arrange a group booking.
